Why haven’t you been successful yet?

  1. What are you self-limiting belief systems?

  2. Why do you choose the foods you do?

  3. Why is it so hard to get to the gym and train?

Discover your Self Limiting Belief Systems

The people who are closest to us can do a great deal of damage: You’re Told: “quit”, “you are going to fail”, “don’t bother trying”; “It’s a waist of time or money”; “You can’t do it” Or negative messages you give yourself: “I’m not fit enough”; “I never stick with anything”; “I never have time” etc.

Why do you choose the foods you do?

Most of us eat from habit, so it stands to reason that we eat the way our family and friends eat. But these are habits and can easily be broken. How many of you were told: “If you don’t finish your food you won’t get any dessert” As a result our portion sizes are way too big!

Why do you choose the foods you do?

Constant bombarding of marketing messages that make your efforts tougher: Advertisements designed to encourage you to make unhealthy choices, many of them which work on a subconscious level, which consistently have an effect on your belief systems.

I.E fast food chains won’t tell you about the benefits of their food, but will tell you that eating there will be fun and make you feel better.

Another angle is the advertisements offering a quick fix: ever heard this before “eat what you like and stay thin” Adverts which promise huge weight loss by taking a pill or drinking a shake whilst still eating burgers, or fat etc… are all false and they are only in it for the money. (Some of the top profit-making products in the world are weight loss products)

Think about all the messages you are bombarded with every day, think about how long they’ve been sitting in your sub-conscious mind, keeping you from being successful.

The minute you blame circumstances or someone else for your situation is the very moment you allow yourself to become a victim. It is the very moment you give someone or something else control of your life. Change comes from within.

Why is it so hard to get to the gym and train?

Everyone has different reasons for giving up exercise but here are some reasons why it’s difficult to stick with it and some good enough reasons to keep trying.

•Exercise is really hard on your body at first it can take up more energy and the pain you experience when you first exercise can be daunting. But if you look at the statistics you are more likely to stick with exercise and feel the benefits if you maintain a routine for 6 months or more and after a couple of weeks the pain almost goes completely and your energy increases.

•With today’s ever increasing pace, it’s hard to find the time to commit to training. It is recommended that 30 minutes a day or a 1 hour session, 3 x a week, is best. And when you consider there’s 168 hours in a week it’s really not a lot.

•With the price of everything increasing it’s difficult to choose what to spend it on, and personal training and gym subscription’s don’t normally come first on the list, but when you consider the cost of paying for prescription medicine, the cost of taking time off work from being ill and not to mention the money wasted on quick fixes, diet pills that don’t work or fad diets. You can see its far better to invest in prevention rather than cure. At the end of the day we want longevity, to be able to play with our children or grandchildren surely that’s got to be a good reason. And there are affordable ways to train, you don’t necessarily have to join a gym, you can train outdoors, in a PT studio or at home. Personal Training can be done every week or as little as a few refresher sessions every 6-8 weeks.

•Sometimes people tell me they get bored of the whole gym or training scene. Or they simply don’t enjoy it. This can happen even to the best of us and is perfectly normal. In fact it is recommended that you change your routine every 6-8 weeks to give you the ultimate benefits and in turn will avoid boredom. As for enjoyment, well weight lifting is not for everyone, even though there are immense benefits, there are other ways to train and maybe it was your first experience which put you off. So try again or try something else, maybe yoga is more your thing or running outdoors or boxing and martial arts, there’s really no excuse!
